9 Tater Tot Recipes That Will Change How You Think of Tots
Are you looking to jazz up your favorite crispy potato tater tots? While tater tots may be considered a childish cafeteria food, with a few genius ideas they can be transformed to serve to a grown-up audience (while also satisfying your inner child).
And of course, when you think tater tots can’t get any better, may I remind you they are the perfect vessel for cheese? Here are some crispy, gooey, cheesy tater tot recipes to change how you think about tots.
1. Tater Tot & Bacon Grilled Cheese in a Waffle Iron
Four words: tots, bacon, jalapeños, and cheese. Stick all that in a waffle iron and you’re golden. Literally.
If you don’t have a waffle iron, you can also use a panini press and still get a masterpiece. Also add anything you like, whether that be bacon and jalapeños, different cheeses, ham, tomato — the possibilities are endless.
2. Cheesy Bacon, Sausage, and Tater Tot Breakfast Bake
This recipe reminds me of the casserole my mom always makes on Christmas, but with two addictive additions: tots and bacon. If you want a runnier, gooey bake follow these instructions for the recipe.
If you prefer a more set egg, I suggest baking the casserole without the tots for the first 20 minutes and then add them on for the last 15 minutes.
3. Tater Tot Nachos
Tater tot nachos. Genius. Why not combine two of America’s favorite foods? Add whatever toppings you want. I added cheddar, jalapeños, shallots, corn salsa, grilled chicken, and cilantro, and it was super yummy.
4. Buffalo Tater Tot Bake
I love buffalo chicken. Substitute chicken for tots and add cheese and you have an amazing dish for a football game or when that spicy craving comes along. If you’re not into blue cheese, add goat cheese or feta to give a similar tang.
5. Loaded Baked Tater Tot Dip
Here’s another cheesy dip for game day (or any day). You can never have enough dip options! This one calls for cheese, sour cream, crumbled meatballs and of course, tots.
6. Cheesy Garlic Tater Tot Bake
This is like garlic bread for tater tots. Heaven. If you, like me, don’t have a Bundt pan lying around like the recipe calls for, use a muffin tin and get cute little servings that are just as delicious (just start checking them at 20 minutes) or use a loaf pan.
7. Jalapeño Popper Tater Tot Casserole
This dish is a new twist on the classic jalapeño popper. Cheesy, spicy, and overall divine. I’m here for it!
8. Loaded Tater Tot Skewers
They’re like a potato skin, but on a skewer. And that’s fancy. Load these bad boys up with cheese and bacon bits and you’ll be sure to impress your friends at the tailgate.
9. Bacon-Wrapped Tater Tots
And finally we have my personal favorite, sure to please everyone: bacon-wrapped tots. Bacon, similar to tater tots, makes everything better.
These recipes are fool-proof ways to upgrade your tots, whether you’re making them for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack. So, go forth and enjoy, my fellow tot lovers.
Tater Tot Breakfast Skillet. (+ We’re Hiring Again!)
by Jessica on February 20, 2017 80
I’m very sorry to be doing this to you on a Monday. Making you eat tater tots and all. With tons of cheese. And bacon. And eggs!
God this is the best Monday EVER, actually.
MY OTHER RECIPES
Super exciting news. We’re hiring for a few new positions over here (two local, one remote!) and if you’re interested in learning more, check them out here. I’m looking for a kitchen and shoot assistant, a video intern and a content manager for a verrrry exciting new project that you’ll learn about later this year.
Okay now. Back to tots.
I’m going to tell you something that may be shocking.
I just don’t. At least, I didn’t. Until now.
It was a school lunch thing, Tater tots reminded me of elementary school lunch and trust me – I was NOT a school lunch snob. I mostly bought my lunch in elementary school and enjoyed it (even the very questionable Salisbury steak, like that the heck was it actually?). School lunch table antics I did not enjoy. Once I got in trouble for passing a note AT LUNCH. What? Why?
Here’s the other thing. Eddie is obsessed with tater tots. Not just regular tots, but sweet potato tots. You know how I always talk about his long standing meal ruts? Like how he will eat one thing for eight months everyday and then never eat it again?
He did that.
With sweet potato tots.
Last year, he was in a HUGE sweet potato tot plus egg phase. My friends and family found this insane because he wakes up super early to work out – and he eats a big breakfast first. First thing in the morning he would actually bake sweet potato tots and then top them with fried eggs.
Like on weekdays. At 5am.
I’m super curious to hear your thoughts on this.
Anyhoo, he got over that late last summer. He was completely done with tots. It actually wasn’t until recently, like within the last month, that he ate them again for the first time since. With dinner. I’m pretty sure the tots-for-breakfast phase is over. Thankfully.
So I have to say that I was a little nervous about serving him this tater tot skillet. Even when eating his tots covered with eggs, he is still sort of a tot purist. I wasn’t sure if he’d like them mixed IN something.
But when bacon and cheese are involved, what can go wrong?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
OH MY GOSH. New favorite meal alert. Breakfast AND dinner, because it’s the best. This is utterly ridiculous in the most fantastic way. It has texture and it’s satisfying and it kind of tastes like French fries and breakfast had a baby in one delicious trashy way.
Now isn’t that just exactly what you want to eat?

How to Open TOT Files
What is File Extension TOT?
by: Jay Geater, Chief Technology Writer
Did someone email you a TOT file and you’re not sure how to open it? Maybe you have found a TOT file on your computer and wondering what it’s for? Windows might tell you that you can’t open it, or in the worst case, you might encounter a TOT file related error message.
Before you can open a TOT file, you’ll need to figure out what kind of file the TOT file extension refers to.
Tip: Incorrect TOT file association errors can be a symptom of other underlying issues within your Windows operating system. These invalid entries can also produce associated symptoms such as slow Windows startups, computer freezes, and other PC performance issues. Therefore, it highly recommended that you scan your Windows registry for invalid file associations and other issues related to a fragmented registry.
TOT files are Uncommon Files primarily associated with Infinity Game Engine Talk Table Override Text (BioWare Corp.).
TOT files are also associated with
Telelogic Option Templates and FileViewPro.
Additional types of files may also be using the TOT file extension. If you are aware of any other file formats using the TOT file extension, please contact us so that we can update our information accordingly.
How To Open Your TOT File:
The fastest and easiest way to open your TOT file is to double-click it. This allows the intelligence of Windows to decide the correct software application to open your TOT file.
In the case that your TOT file doesn’t open, it is highly likely that you do not have the correct software application installed on your PC to view or edit TOT file extensions.
If your PC opens the TOT file, but it’s the wrong application, you’ll need to change your Windows registry file association settings. In other words, Windows is associating TOT file extensions with the wrong software program.
We highly recommend scanning your Windows registry for invalid file associations and other related registry issues.
