DIY Cupcake Stand with Free Template

by Brittany Watson Jepsen

It seems like the cupcake craze has now made its way over to Scandinavia. There are a number of cupcakeries popping up all over and I’m certainly not complaining. I figured they needed a stand of their own so I decided to attempt one out of super simple materials and I love how it turned out. Plus, it’s super to pack up and transport to parties or picnics.

Materials: cutting board, matte board color of your choice, spray paint (I choose high gloss gold for ultimate shine), x-acto knife, metal ruler for cutting.

Step 1: I first created a design and then cut out all of the 5 parts below with my x-acto knife. You can download this template to the size that you’d like and use it as a template to transfer to your matte board.

Step 2: Assemble the parts together by first putting part 2 on top of part 1. Continue by stacking part 4 on top of the stand and sliding it down to the bottom rung. Add part 5 by repeating and putting it on the middle rung. Finish it off with part 3 at the top rung.

Step 3: I decided to give it a spray of gold spray paint for extra shine. I first disassembled the parts and then sprayed them and let them dry for a day. Then spray the other side and let dry for a day. That will avoid finger prints in the paint.

Voila! Easy squeezy!

To top it off my sweet husband made rhubarb cupcakes and I used gold liners to create a lovely golden glow against the stand.

{VIDEO} DIY Dollar Store Cupcake Stand

DIY cupcake stand, dessert towers and cake plates, in any color, made from stuff I found at the 99c store!

This project was so much fun and something I wanted to try for a long time. I picked up some plastic plates, bowls and some candlesticks for 99c each, sprayed them pink and glued them together to create tons of different styled cupcake stands, and cake plates and couldn’t be more excited with how they tuned out!

I got two small and one large plastic plate, plus three candlesticks to create all of these different styles.

You can use any color spray paint you want to customize these to match the theme of any event. Keep it classic and do a simple white stand, make it glam with gold or metallic, or use your favorite color for a perfect kitchen staple.

Then just glue it all together, let dry and you are ready to add your favorite treats!

Note: Put down a doily or something underneath food, so it is not directly sitting on the spray painted plates (sorry I didn’t show that in the picture!)

You can also get creative and use bowls, glass plates, baking pans and more, to make different types of shapes and sizes for your dessert stands.

My favorite is the 4 tier cupcake stand!

I love creating different levels and sizes. I used a small vase with the big plate to give some height to one of the cake stands.

Here is a tall cookie plate with a 3 pedestal stand and a cupcake plate.

Or, you can move the candlesticks around to add a little pedestal for decoration!

Here is the classis 3-tier cupcake stand. The bottom candlestick is right side up, while the middle candlesticks are upside down.

Here I moved the bottom candlestick to the top. Place it upside down and you have a 4th tier to your stand!

You can also use the 4th tier for decoration, like I did here!

13 Easy DIY Cupcake Stands For Every Occasion

Christmas is coming, and the party season is already on. If you are hosting some parties, you definitely need some cupcake and cake stands, serving plates and dishes. Today we are sharing some tutorials for cupcake stands of different materials – so that you could easily and stylishly serve your desserts.

The first tutorial for today is a rustic cupcake stand made of wood slices. Rustic style is always cozy and such a cupcake stand will easily fit many ambiences. Attach simple wooden candle sticks (or paint them) to wood slices and voila!

A simple and stylish etagere is right what you need to display sweets, such a piece will fit any décor and party style. The stands themselves are made of vintage porcelain plates, actually you can choose any plates that correspond your style.

If you have old unnecessary vinyl records, you can make a cool cupcake stand of them. such a piece looks cool and rock-n-roll and can accommodate not only cupcakes but also other sweets and mini cakes.

Here we go with a stable cupcake stand that can be easily customized! A terra cotta pot and saucer can be glued to each other and make up a cool stand. You can paint or customize the pot and saucer in another way.

Here’s another cupcake stand in rustic style. This woodsy cupcake stand is made of thick wood slices and to make them stable, the author used pots. Personalize the stand as you like.

This cupcake stand is made of a candlestick and a box top. I love the way the author personalized it – covered with navy paint and then glitter. Actually, you can give any look to this stand, and the size depends on the box cover.

Make a cool and colorful acrylic cupcake stand of a plate and a coordinating glass. Simply attach them to each other and voila!

A plate of your choice, a glass candlestick and a strong adhesive can be used to create a fast cupcake stand. Personalize it as you want or leave as it is if you don’t have much time.

A metal lamp base can be used instead of a candlestick to make a cupcake stand. Take a refined plate and you’ll get a sophisticated cupcake stand.

We can’t live without IKEA! That’s why we couldn’t pass by this tutorial. IKEA cork coasters placed on wooden rings can make up adorable individual cupcake stands. Decorate them as you wish!

These stands are perfect for any graduation party! These paper podiums are the perfect display for your cookies, cupcakes and other desserts.

A wide can and a dinner plate is right what you need for a cool and simple cupcake stand. The tin can be wrapped with colored paper of your choice. Adhere the tin to the plate and voila!

A wooden candlestick adhered to a simple tray will give you a cool cupcake stand without much effort. This is a fast craft and we recommend to use epoxy for adhering them.
